Art lending for children

People enjoy visual art for different reasons.We may find something beautiful or fascina ting without knowing why. Often our enjoyment comes from recognition. Our experiences connect us to the artwork. Thus it's important that children be given access to artwork which connects to their experiences of life. Children have little choice in an ordinary art lending program, but there is a great deal to offer through a children's art program.

Though it's difficult to make intelligent artwork on a child's level, children's book illustrators do just that. Their works and their drawing styles are also often familiar to children. For these reasons, the works of children's book illustrators are most appropriate for a children's art lending program.

Association View established the first children's art lending program in the Netherlands (started in 1985).
The Association also:
- distributes information about children's art lending programs;
- helps organize new collections for lending;
- evaluates existing lending programs;
- collects, rents, and sells original work from children's book illustrators;
